Redlands, CA based Sleeping Giant released their first album, Dread Champions of the Last Days, in 2007 followed by Sons of Thunder in 2009 and Dancing on This Earth in 2010. No band emits passion for faith like Sleeping Giant does. Their song, “The Army of One”, sums up their message: a warning of the end times. Throughout both albums, they encourage fellow believers to rise up and be bold. Their live shows consist of an outpouring of passion through heavy music and preaching. They have toured the nation numerous times to spread the gospel. Sleeping Giant front man, Thom Green, keeps the audience intrigued with his unique stage-presence. On their albums, the band separates themselves with down-tuned, heavy hitting worship and Green’s one-of-a-kind vocal style. This band is a must-see, so keep an eye out for them.

From Indian Lakes
From Indian Lakes is an indie-rock band from Yosemite, California, more specifically, Indian Lakes (hence the name). This Christian, five-piece band will keep any listener interested. Their debut album, The Man With Wooden Legs, was released at the end of 2009. The eleven track record catches the listener’s attention from the very beginning with “I Have No Answers.” This, along with all their other songs, shows the group’s dynamic ability with everything from breakdowns and shouts to pianos and whispers. This band stands out among the rest due greatly to the pure, organic sound. There are no added effects or ambiances in their recordings, which shows the true musicianship of each member. Their live show emits their passion behind the message. This band is definitely worth checking out.

I Rival
I Rival, an experimental rock band from Atlanta, hit the scene in 2009 with their debut album, “Don’t Wake Up”. Recognized for their one-of-a-kind sound they were asked to participate in the Dance Rawr Dance 3 tour with bands such as Family Force 5 and Breathe Carolina. Arguably one of the best bands on the tour, they picked up most of their fan base on the road. Their one and only album has attracted attention from not only fans, but record labels and MTV alike. Although their twenty-five minute, eight-track album is the only music the band has released, it has made a huge impact on the music scene. Singer, Eric Wilkes, shows off his vocal range in songs like “Make Me Scream”. Unlike many bands on the scene today this vocalist will not disappoint live. The current status of the band is unknown, but we all hope to hear more from I Rival in the near future.

Stick To Your Guns
From Orange County, California, Stick To Your Guns is a remarkable 5 piece, melodic hardcore band. Singer Jesse Barnett created the band in 2003 to give himself the means to express his frustration and points of view. Their first full-length album, For What It’s Worth, was released in 2005 from This City Is Burning Records. Since then, STYG has re-issued For What It’s Worth and released two more albums with Sumerian Records. They released Comes From The Heart in 2008, and The Hope Division in 2010. Jesse Barnett’s goal is to create music that will allow listeners to, “build up enough emotions to react.” The lyrics to every song are powerful and filled with passion. So is their live performance. Stick To Your Guns holds the record for the highest attendance at a show at Chain Reaction in Anaheim. Their fans love the sincerity of every performance and will not miss an opportunity to see this band that seems to have it all: heaviness, passion, melody, love. STYG has some great things in store for the future. Stay tuned!

Confide

Confide has lived every local bands dream: start out small, and eventually tour the world. Confide’s debut full length, Shout the Truth, was a phenomenal introduction into the scene. The guitar leads in songs like “Zeal” were something new, and refreshing. This album is truly an inspiring piece of work. After touring this album for a while, a few new members were introduced that would play an intricate role in the writing of their last album, Recover. The bands new drummer, Joel Piper, added a whole new element to the band because of his expertise in recording and experience as a vocalist. Although many people thought Recover was too mainstream to be the Confide they knew, it showed a maturity in the band’s writing ability. The latest album is a perfect blend of breakdowns, and catchy vocal melodies. Confide wrote two amazing albums, and will surely be missed.
Destruction of a King
Destruction of a King is a hard hitting five piece from Southern California. The release of the highly anticipated self titled album, Destruction of a King dropped early last year. This album is packed full of filthy lyrics, melodic guitar riffs, and catchy breakdowns. The album is well done from start to finish. There isn't a weak song on the album, and the sound quality has remarkably improved since the last time we heard from the band. The album will definitely leave the listener wanting more, and their live show is no different. DOAK will turn any venue into “stage dive central." Their new full length, Consumed drops May 31st…get DOAKED.
